The lash extension procedure: how does it work?

Decided on extensions but nervous because you don't know what to expect? Let's walk through the appointment step by step — from the studio door to the finished result.

Step 1. Consultation. It all starts with a conversation: what effect you want, how you wear make-up, what feels "too much" for you. The artist assesses your face and eye shape and suggests a map and materials.

Step 2. Preparation. Make-up removal, cleansing and degreasing of the lashes with a special colour- and odour-free product — so the adhesive bonds reliably.

Step 3. Assessing your lashes. The artist checks the length, density, thickness and curl of your natural lashes — and finalises the choice of extensions.

Step 4. Comfort. The procedure is done lying down — at Resnichniy Dom on couches with orthopaedic mattresses. Eyes closed, nothing to do — many guests simply fall asleep.

Step 5. The artist at work. The longest part: every natural lash is examined, an extension is matched and attached, the map takes shape. It is jeweller-level work — no place for haste.

Checklist: signs of a good studio

• Disposable and sterile supplies — non-negotiable.
• You feel comfortable throughout: nothing stings or pulls.
• Duration — no more than 4 hours even with a junior artist; an experienced one is faster.
