Proper care for lash extensions

To enjoy your extensions for as long as possible, a few simple rules are enough. No special skills required — just a little attention to your lashes.

7 rules for long retention

1. Don't rub your eyes. Harsh mechanical contact is the main enemy of extensions. Touch your eyes gently; vigorous rubbing also raises the risk of infection.

2. Never pull extensions off yourself. You can easily damage your own follicle along with the extension. If a lash bothers you, soften the adhesive with a rich cream or oil and remove it carefully — or better, see your artist. Why DIY removal is harmful: "Lash extensions: myths and reality".

3. Put the eyelash curler away. A mechanical curler breaks both artificial and natural lashes — with extensions you don't need it anyway: the curl is already there.

4. Keep lashes away from water for the first two hours. Let the adhesive fully set — this directly extends the wear time.

5. Choose the right cleansers. Oil-free toners and gels work best. Oil-based products soften the adhesive and weaken the bond. Wash gently, without rubbing.

6. Brush your lashes. A clean spoolie sets the right direction and gently stimulates the lash line — your set looks tidy every day.

7. Dry your lashes after water. With extensions there are more lashes than usual and they dry longer; lingering moisture gradually weakens the adhesive. Blot gently and let them dry.
